About the reference

Follow the fact back to its source.

Use the value together with its units, conditions and evidence scope.

Nominal specifications

Basic geometry is kept separate from manufacturer tolerances, fit and application. A matching nominal size does not establish interchangeability.

Manufacturer examples

Product claims belong to a complete designation, grade and source. A family illustration is not an exact product photograph.

Calculations

Inputs, units and formulas accompany the result. Estimates are labelled; a calculation does not replace product or inspection requirements.

Reference updates

— Reorganized the homepage around lookup, comparison, calculation and marking guides. Added the calculator directory and a source-linked surface-quality path: Ra explanation, unit conversion and measurement conditions.

The 37 scoped surface-quality, size/fit, geometric-requirement and inspection URLs have been reviewed individually and connected to the reference directory. Unsupported numeric tables have been replaced with documented examples or explicit-input tools. The 170 existing material content pages (169 material references and one comparison article) have also been reviewed and rebuilt. Eleven references contain specific property examples; 157 establish identity and state scope, and one needs a more precise material identity. Read the material review decisions. Nine existing material-support pages now distinguish treatment states and source-scoped thermal expansion. Each page keeps its evidence scope and limitations visible.
